I work where the bases are — and I've made the move myself.

I'm Taylor Haas, a REALTOR® and certified Military Relocation Professional with the Barron Team at Real Broker. I focus on the parts of San Diego built around the bases — Imperial Beach, Coronado, Point Loma, Chula Vista and Miramar — working with military families on orders, buyers using VA benefits, and first-time buyers. I've been a military spouse for 14 years, so I know what it's like to shop for a home from three time zones away on a timeline nobody chose.

Who I work with

Three situations I handle most

01

Military families on orders

Report dates that don't move, house hunting from another state or country, and a spouse doing most of the search alone. I've lived this, and I build the search around your real timeline instead of an ideal one.

02

Buyers using VA benefits

Your VA entitlement is one of the strongest benefits you have, and it's routinely misunderstood by sellers and even by agents. I help you use it without it becoming a reason your offer gets passed over.

03

First-time and civilian buyers

Plenty of my clients have no military connection at all. No assumed knowledge and no rushing — I'll explain what each step means and what it costs, and I'd rather you walk away from the wrong house than feel pushed into it.

Where I work

The neighborhoods built around San Diego's bases

San Diego's housing map is shaped by where people report for duty. Most of my clients start with one question — how far is this from my command? — so that's how I organize my market rather than by zip code.

AreaThe bases it servesWho tends to land there
Imperial Beach Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, Naval Outlying Landing Field Imperial Beach Families wanting the beach without Coronado pricing
Coronado Naval Air Station North Island, Naval Amphibious Base Coronado Shortest commute in the county; strongest resale
Point Loma & Ocean Beach Naval Base Point Loma, Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific Peninsula living, minutes from downtown and the airport
Chula Vista & South Bay Naval Base San Diego (32nd Street) Most space for the money; newer construction
Miramar & Mira Mesa Marine Corps Air Station Miramar Inland, family-sized homes, good schools
Imperial Beach Pier at sunset, San Diego County, California
Imperial Beach Pier at sunset.

Most of my closings have been in Imperial Beach, the South Bay and the inland east county communities:

About

Taylor Haas

I've been a military spouse for 14 years and have called San Diego home, on and off, for much of that time. I started my real estate career in Florida and now work here with the Barron Team at Real Broker.

The reason I focus on military families isn't marketing. It's that I've packed a house on short notice, tried to evaluate a neighborhood from photos, and made a decision about where to live based on a map and a phone call. When a spouse is running the search alone because the service member can't get away, I know what that week looks like.

I hold the Military Relocation Professional certification, and I practice in California under the Military Spouse License Recognition Act — the program that lets the spouse of an active-duty servicemember carry a real estate license across state lines instead of starting over at every duty station. It's the same problem my clients have: your life keeps moving, and the paperwork has to keep up.

I'm also a member of the veterans alliance business group through the San Diego Chamber of Commerce.

Common questions

Questions I get asked most

Can I buy a home in San Diego before I arrive?

Yes, and many of my clients do — military and civilian alike. You'll want a lender pre-approval in place first, and we'll rely on video walkthroughs and a local inspection. The main thing to plan for is that your loan and your move-in date need to line up, which usually means starting earlier than feels necessary.

Are VA loan offers really at a disadvantage in San Diego?

They're at a disadvantage when they're presented poorly, not because of the loan itself. Sellers in a competitive market react to perceived risk. A VA offer that's structured cleanly and communicated well competes fine — I've closed them here.

Which San Diego areas are closest to which bases?

Coronado is closest to Naval Air Station North Island and Naval Amphibious Base Coronado. Imperial Beach sits just south of NAB Coronado on the same strand and typically buys more space for the money. Point Loma and Ocean Beach serve Naval Base Point Loma and Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific. Chula Vista and the South Bay serve Naval Base San Diego on 32nd Street. Miramar and Mira Mesa serve Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.

What does MRP mean?

Military Relocation Professional — a certification from the National Association of REALTORS® covering the specifics of moving on military orders: the timelines, VA loan rules, and what happens when orders change mid-transaction.

Do you work with buyers who aren't military?

Absolutely. A large share of my clients are first-time buyers and local move-up buyers with no military connection. The military work is a specialty, not a restriction.

What does it cost to work with you as a buyer?

Buyer representation and compensation are negotiable and are set out in a written buyer representation agreement before we tour homes. I'll walk you through exactly how it works, and what's negotiable, before you sign anything.
